Suunto Traverse Alpha Men's GPS Hunting Watch

We like the Sunnto Traverse so much that we added it’s big brother, the Alpha, to our in depth list of the Best Hiking Watches money can buy.

Take everything you know about the Traverse and give it a more “tactical watch” exterior with added shot marking (which uses audio cues from your weapon) for hunting and and moon phase/tide tracking for fishing. This makes is the perfect GS hunting watch.

We like the Traverse model so much we added it’s big brother, the Alpha, to the list.

The Nylon textile strap is water repellent and the bezel has a cool “knurled” effect which makes it look tough AF.

These Suunto men’s watches are available in a few models… first the Foliage and the Stealth. And now the new Woodland, Concrete and Black/Red have also been made available.

Just like with the Traverse, the Altimeter, Barometer, Compass and Thermometer are highly accurate. Alarms can be set to vibrate and they are rated to 100 Meters water resistant. Bear in mind this is not a diving watch.

All-in-all, we wouldn’t upgrade to the Traverse for the Shot marking and tide info. The only reason we’d personally go for the one of the slightly more expensive Suunto military watches, (the Alpha) is the seriously awesome bezel… Doesn’t it just say: ” this is a true Outdoorsman Watch!”
